With the help of the Branch’s 1st counselor I’ve memorized 21 scriptures, one for each of the points of the first three lessons. I am very happy about the improvements we have seen in our teaching and our use of scriptures. I think I can be more humble and receptive to feedback and will be dedicating time to improving in those aspects. I am realizing more and more each lesson that that (questions, silence, brevity, clarity, and simplicity) is crucial in teaching people and not lessons, thanks for helping to improve in those aspects.

Recently I have been focused on claiming the blessings of Testimony bearing of The Book of Mormon, of Joseph Smith, and of Jesus as the Christ. I like how that sounds, what I can do on one side and what God does on the other, focusing on what I need to be seeking and asking for, I´ll try it out tomorrow before personal study time.

Two Sundays ago, we had stake conference and one of the speakers gave a beautiful talk on gratitude, later while reading a part of my Patriarchal Blessing a phrase about gratitude and the hand of God in my life stood out to me, and now your wonderful experiences with gratitude, I think God is telling me it’s something I need to focus on.

One of our investigators is about the same, his brother in law, with which he lives, is a member whose (church) rights are currently restricted and who has a big influence so we are going to focus on helping the brother in law to be an example and help for Jose. The Haitains are good. It has been hard to find them in their house as they are out a lot. We have a Noche de Hogar today the mom from Spain and are excited to visit more often with them.
My companion and I were talking only yesterday about vision boards, I will be praying to know what to put on it and will tell you next week.

This week was great, we made an extra big effort to have members accompanying us in lessons and had members with us for 5 out of 7 days! On Thursday we had a great lesson with a part member Family and the Branch´s 1st counselor, afterwards he showed us how we can improve our teaching and offered to meet with us weekly to help us. We are very excited to be working more with the members here and seeing them become excited as well. It has been amazing to see the powerful effect the members have on the missionary work and their key role in retention. Thanks so much for all your support and your prayers,

Elder Holland quoted someone who said, “The greatest decision I ever made in my life was to give up something I dearly loved to the God I loved even more. He has never forgotten me for it.” I love this quote and testify that the mission you will serve will be the best decision of your life, it is full of adventure and heartache as well as learning and growth, it is amazing. To help anyone decide if they want to serve, I invite you to watch the talk “In search of treasure” (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2003/04/in-search-of-treasure?lang=eng) and pray to know what to do.

This week flew by and I can hardly remember what happened each day but I do remember that we have been focusing on doing more contacts each day and have had great success, we got to know a great family with 4 kids, who would have let us in right away but the husband wasn´t home, as well as 2 Haitains. Saturday night we had a great family home evening type thing with a family were happy to find that the message we shared was exactly what they needed in that moment. We worked really hard to get our investigators to church and were disappointed when not one arrived, we felt much better when 3 of the members who shared their testimonies thanked us for the message we shared Saturday night and several other members invited us to come to their homes to share with them and friends after hearing the members testimonies. After church the Branch President introduced us to a woman who had been inactive and living in Spain but there became active again and having returned wants her family to be baptized and be able to be sealed in the temple, we will be meeting with them this Thursday. While visiting an investigator, we spoke of the word of wisdom and Elder Sorensen felt the prompting to invite him to be baptized and did so in perfect Spanish! We invited Jose to read 2 Nephi 31 and pray to know what to do, please pray for him. It was an amazing week and we look forward to many more!
