Successful Surgery

Max’s surgery went great! Dr. Lewis gave a full report and said his heart and lungs did very well the whole time. They took skin from his thighs to put on his neck, chest, arms, and hands. With the skin grafts in place, Max’s body can now take on the task of recovering and healing!

I weep with gratitude for the miracle of modern medicine. Without it, we would not have our sweet boy with us. Here are just a few of the miracles that have sustained and supported our Miracle Max:

  • Trained doctors, nurses, technicians, & surgeons
  • World-class facilities (& helicopters) with high standards
  • Feeding tube, breathing tube & ventilator
  • Monitoring (Heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, etc.)
  • Drugs (for pain management, sedation, infection, etc.)
  • Skin grafts

I try to imagine all the people and passion and trials and error it took to culminate in the miracle of modern medicine. I’m so grateful for this country that incentivizes improvements in technology and care. We are so blessed.

Several times today, I broke down in tears as I felt the prayers of all the people (known and unknown) for my sweet boy.

  3. I am the sister of Alona Reynolds who you know well. We are all praying for Max. My 6 year old reminds us with each prayer we make that we must not forget max. He has seen this website and is very concerned that he gets better. I attended Art of Mentoring today and Kirk told Max’s story. Not a dry eye in the room as he told us about how well Max’s spirit is doing. Max is proud that he is being able to touch lives right now. We all took a moment to be with Max and send prayers and well wishes. I am sure Max felt it this morning because there were many amazing powerful people in the room. Max is touching lives and will be whole again 🙂

  17. Hi! We are the Garcia family. We live in Connecticut. My oldest son Samuel (11 years old) always struggles when it is time for fasting. Today, we read Miracle Max’s story and my son immediately felt a strong desire to fast
And prayed and is fasting for Max. We are going to keep you in our prayers. Thank you for being such a wonderful mother. I know The Lord will listen to your prayers and all our prayers. He will help you the same way He helped Alma with his son Alma thanks to the prayers and fast of all the people who loved them.

  18. Prayers continue with gratitude and hope for further and rapid healing. I pray also for you, his loved ones. Remember to take care of yourselves so you will be strong for the days ahead. May God continue to bless you all.

  19. So thankful to The Great Physician for a successful surgery. Jeff and I continue to pray for Max, you, Andy and all the family. Natalie, your mom is looking down with love upon you during this time. I know she would be so blessed and thankful for your nurturing of Max, but she would also remind you to rest when possible and to take care of yourself during what will be a long recovery process. Find joy in each day and know The Lord God is walking beside you and carrying you when you are too weak to stand any longer. Your gratitude for the many miracles that have taken place and recognition of God’s hand guiding all those caring for Max will give you peace. God is faithful and He is our trust. Many here in Arizona continue to pray for Max and all of your family. Thank you for taking time to update when possible. Love you all.
